The City of Prince George has been singled out for special commendation by the BC Construction Association (BCCA) for its engagement practices with industry. The city was among BCCA’s picks for the Best of Public Procurement 2022 – Owner of Choice Awards.
Scott Bone, CEO of the Northern Regional Construction Association, presented council with the award Monday night.
The BCCA says that each of the winners consistently sets a positive example to other public owners when procuring construction services.
“Public entities whose contract opportunities are distinguished by well-structured procurement processes and project outcomes can achieve a reputation as owners of choice. This directly translates to demonstrable value for taxpayer dollars and aligns with public sector obligations to trade agreements and for fair, open, and transparent procurement practices,” states a BCCA media release published earlier today.
“The City of Prince George greatly values our positive working relationship with the Northern Regional Construction Association because projects always benefit when teams collaborate instead of operate in silos,” said Walter Babicz, city manager, City of Prince George, in a news release. “We appreciate being recognized with this award, which reflects our commitment to building relationships both with industry as well as our community.”
The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) works with four Regional Construction Associations (NRCA, SICA, VICA and VRCA) to serve more than 10,000 employers in the provinces industrial, commercial, institutional (ICI) construction industry. BCCA advocates on behalf of all employers to ensure British Columbia’s construction sector remains productive and resilient.
