Prince George RCMP are investigating two fires that occurred on the morning of April 18 in Prince George.
The first fire began around 4 a.m. in the 2100-block of Quince Street, with police receiving reports of a residence fully engulfed in flames. Frontline police blocked off the area and evacuated nearby residences. Fire investigators from Prince George RCMP and Prince George Fire and Rescue Service conducted a survey of the home; however, the cause of this fire remains inconclusive.
The second fire started within minutes of the first, at a business in the 1100-block of Third Avenue. Frontline police attended the area and gathered witness statements and video surveillance. Fire investigators conducted a survey of the business and determined the cause of the fire to be arson. Police are currently following up on several leads regarding potential suspects.
“Officers from our Investigational Support Team reviewed the video surveillance provided and are now requesting the public’s help in locating the driver of a pickup truck seen driving along Third Avenue at the time the fire breaks out. We are asking they come forward to speak with police about any suspicious activity they may have seen,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
The truck is described as a full-sized, two-tone, dark-coloured pickup.
No injuries were reported in either event. Both files remain under investigation.
