The Community Arts Council of Prince George & District, the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and Theatre NorthWest have announced plans for the third annual Mayor’s gala art fundraiser.
After a two-year hiatus, the biggest arts social event of the season is back, this year in an exciting, interactive, modified form themed as the “Mayor’s Black & White Arts Soirée”.
This much-loved event is designed to support local arts organizations through direct fundraising and a community arts grant. This year’s iteration will be held on May 14, at Theatre Northwest, and is a great opportunity for the community to don their finest attire and come out to an extravaganza event to raise funds for the three arts organizations. The Black & White Arts Soirée is hosted by Mayor Lyn Hall and Lorrelle Hall, and will feature an exciting array of live artistic presentations, including music, dance, live art, plus delicious appetizers, drinks, auctions, and DJ music. Not only will the funds raised aid the mandates of the three partner organizations, but additional funds will be raised for the Prince George Arts Micro-Grant program which supports local emerging artists by providing funding for short-term arts projects.
“Over the trying times of the past two years, it has been our local arts organizations who have worked tirelessly to lift our spirits, and in spite of significant and at times seemingly insurmountable challenges, they continued to provide our community with local culture, events, live performances, marketplaces, creative classes, youth opportunities and more,” said Mayor Lyn Hall. “I look forward to accompanying my wife and our community leaders for a night of celebration and an opportunity to show our support for those who enrich our community through the arts.”
For the third year in a row, Canadian Tire has once again stepped forward as the title sponsor of the event with a financial contribution of $10,000.
“How wonderful it will be to come out and support and celebrate the arts, after this long hiatus,” said Selen Alpay, Canadian Tire store owner. “Canadian Tire appreciates and values the contribution arts make to a healthy and viable community, and we are proud to support initiatives and organizations that contribute to the high quality of life Prince George offers its residents.”
