Silverbacks score six unanswered including OT winner, defeat Spruce Kings 6-5

The Spruce Kings exploded for five goals, but it was the explosive Salmon Arm Silverbacks who rattled off six unanswered in the final 15 minutes, including the overtime winner to defeat the Spruce Kings 6-5.


 PG: Just over nine minutes into the game, a Rowan Miller shot from the outside of the left circle found its way to the goal and went through the legs of Liam Vanderkooi to give the Spruce Kings a 1-0 lead. Miller’s 22nd of the season was assisted by Kolton Cousins at 9:12.

PG: Just over a minute later, a Simon Labelle shot was tipped in tight by Nick Rhéaume to give the Spruce Kings a two goal lead. Rhéaune’s team leading 29th of the season was assisted by Labelle and Ben LeFranc at 10:23.

 PG: 2:50 into the period, an Evan Fedele shot was stopped by Vanderkooi, but the rebound was tucked home by Nathan Fox to make it 3-0. Fox’s third of the season was assisted by both Fedele and Luke German.

PG: In the final minute of the period, John Herrington got the puck at the left circle and wired it top corner on Vanderkooi to make it 4-0. Herrington’s 24th of the year was assisted by both Josh Wright and Dylan Schives at 19:39.

 PG: 6:56 into the third period, Luc Laylin made a gorgeous move in the neutral zone and raced into the attacking zone up the right wing and roofed it by Vanderkooi to make it 5-0 Spruce Kings.

SA: The Silverbacks were able to get one back as Zack Smith was able to get his own rebound and put it by Aaron Trotter to make it 5-1. Smith’s ninth of the season was assisted by Brandon Santa Juana at 8:48.

SA: Simon Tassy got the puck up the right wing after a Spruce King turnover, and he was able to shovel it in short-handed to make it 5-2. Tassy’s 38th of the year was unassisted at 12:49.

SA: Just under five minutes a later a seeing eyed shot from Owen Desilets found its way through traffic and went top corner on Trotter to make it 5-3.

SA: With the Silverbacks net empty, Brandon Santa Juana was able to make it a one goal game at 18:51. Santa Juana’s 16th of the year was assisted by Noah Serdachny and Simon Tassy.

SA: In the final minute, a pass in the attacking zone in transition from Simon Tassy was redirected by Zack Smith and by Trotter to tie the game at five. Smith’s second of the night and 10th of the year was assisted by Tassy at 19:16.

SA: Just over three minutes into the period, Noah Serdachny got the puck at the left circle and ripped it by Trotter to win the game. Serdachny’s 25th of the season was assisted by Simon Tassy at 3:01
