Late markers from McGregor-Bennett and Rheaume give Spruce Kings 3-1 victory

PRINCE GEORGE – Late third period goals from both Kilian McGregor-Bennett and Nick Rhéaume gave the Spruce Kings a 3-1 victory on 2000’s night at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

1st PERIOD:

 WEN: On a Wenatchee power-play, Ean Somoza’s point shot was initially blocked, but the puck found the stick of Landen Parker and he fired it off a body and top corner on Aaron Trotter to give the Wild a 1-0 lead. Parker’s ninth of the year was assisted by both Somoza and Brett Oberle at 13:42 on the man advantage.

2nd PERIOD:

PG: Colton Cameron was able to find Linden Makow at neutral ice, and the 17 year old forward rushed down the right wing and snapped a shot by the blocker of Tyler Shea to tie the game at one. Makow’s first of the season was assisted by Cameron at 5:13 of the second frame.

3rd PERIOD:

 PG: Ty Gagno was able to force a turnover off the Wenatchee defender in the attacking zone and Gagno spotted Kilian McGregor-Bennett in tight, and McGregor-Bennett rifled it top corner to give the Spruce Kings a 2-1 lead. The White Rock product’s sixth of the season was assisted by Gagno at 9:26.

PG: Luc Laylin spotted Nick Rheaume up the left wing and Nick Rheaume raced into the attacking zone and he sniped it short side on Shea to make it 3-1. Rheaume’s team leading 23rd of the year was assisted by Laylin at 16:59.
