The spring season doesn’t start until the snow melts, but the planning is underway and registration is now open. Families can sign up their athletes at the Prince George Youth Baseball Association’s website.
For those who can’t wait for spring to get their baseball fix, registration is now underway as well for winter sessions at the Northern Sports Centre.
Beginners and novices have “Sunday Funday” Skills Development practices they can sign up for.
Those aged 10 and younger are invited to be there from 10-11 a.m. while those aged 11 and older are invited to be there from 11am-noon. It is a $60 sign-up for these six sessions and they run: Feb. 13, 20, 27 and March 13, 20, 27. These sessions are for all genders.
A girls-only series is running at UNBC as well. Again, Those aged 10 and younger are invited to be there from 10-11am while those aged 11 and older are invited to be there from 11am-noon. The dates are Feb. 6, March 6, and April 3. Each session is a $5 drop-in fee.
Registration will soon be open as well for those who are on the more advanced side and might consider themselves in the running to make one of the Prince George Knights travel teams that represent PGYBA throughout the spring and summer. These Enhanced WinterBall sessions are not mandatory to try out for the Knights (tryouts are a separate process) but practice always helps, and the PGYBA’s winter programs certainly keep the hearts of baseball beating strongly while the snow is still piled high. All genders are encouraged to consider this option.
The dates for Enhanced WinterBall are:
– 15U/18U (those born in the years 2004-2008):
Feb 8 – Apr 30 at UNBC Field 1
Monday/ Wednesday 6pm-7:30pm and Friday 8:30pm-10pm
