Police crack down on downtown drug dealers

Earlier this month, the Downtown Safety Unit (DSU) began targeting prolific drug traffickers operating out of a commercial dwelling unit on the 600 block of Dominion Street.

Beginning on January 13, 2022, the team executed three controlled drugs and substance act warrants on several rooms in the building. Inside the rooms they located large quantities of illicit prescription drugs; suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine; cash and equipment consistent with drug trafficking.

“Police also seized a gun and ammunition from one of the rooms. This is concerning to police as these individuals are targeting those most at-risk in our community and perpetuating the cycle of violence,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.

DSU members will be meeting with the management staff of the complex to develop strategic options to help deter future criminal activity at this location.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
