City bidding to host 2025 B.C. Special Olympics

City council has approved bidding to host the 2025 Special Olympics in BC.

The bid will involves a direct financial commitment of up to $35,000 and up to $65,000 of in-kind commitments to be funded through the Major Events Reserve.

Approximately 1,400 athletes and coaches, along with hundreds of friends and family, journey from all over the province and the Yukon to the host community for the BC Special Olympics Summer Games.

The city believes that successfully hosting the Special Olympics in 2025 could result in over a million dollars in economic benefit and position the city to host a winter Canadian Special Olympics Games in the near future.
