Spruce Credit Union of Prince George is now officially part of Interior Savings Credit Union.
This milestone follows the November 24 announcement that Spruce members voted 99 per cent in favour of merging with Interior Savings, effective January 1, 2022.
For the time being, it will be business as usual for former Spruce members, however the credit union will soon be rebranded to Interior Savings Credit Union. As the two credit unions integrate operations, Spruce members will gain access to 21 additional branches across the Thompson Okanagan, better rates, and more choices of products and ways to do their banking. And members of Interior Savings will soon have two additional branches to serve them when visiting Prince George.
“We are really excited to be joining with Interior Savings, a credit union that shares our commitment to maintaining the human connection in banking and helping to build a stronger community,” said Ken Dickson, CEO of Spruce Credit Union, in a news release. “With the scale to handle increasing competition, regulation and technological advancements, Interior Savings will help us carry on our founding members’ legacy while continuing to meet the evolving needs of our members and community.”
Interior Savings’ CEO, Kathy Conway added: “We are pleased to welcome Spruce members and employees to Interior Savings. This merger is about bringing together the best of both our credit unions and we really look forward to becoming a part of the Prince George community.”
The combined credit union will have 23 locations across the BC interior with 77,000 members, over 500 employees and approximately $3.75 billion in total assets under administration.
