Man charged with murder in connection to death of Crystal Chambers in 2020

An arrest has now been made and charges have been laid in the homicide of a Prince George woman last year.

On August 1, 2020, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a body being discovered approximately 40 kilometres east of Prince George.

The remains were identified as being 34-year-old Crystal Chambers from Prince George and an autopsy determined that Chambers was the victim of a homicide.

An investigation was conducted by the BC RCMP Major Crime Section – Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), with the assistance of the BC RCMP North District Major Crime Section and the Prince George RCMP.

As a result of significant developments, Jason Troy Getty was arrested by the CIU on December 17, 2021 in Surrey.

Getty was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of indignity to human remains by the BC Prosecution Service.

Getty was previously a resident of Prince George and was known to Crystal Chambers.

“This arrest is a direct result of the dedication and perseverance of numerous investigators and support units within the RCMP over the last 17 months,” said Sergeant Greg Yanicki, Team Commander of CIU. “The investigation remains active and we urge any individuals with information to come forward to the RCMP.”

No further details will be released as the matter is now before the court.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300.
