Spruce Kings blank Silverbacks

Luc Layin’s first goal as a Spruce King, along with multi point nights from John Herrington, Kolton Cousins, and Simon Labelle, and also backed by 18 saves from Jordan Fairlie was what led the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 5-0 blanking over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at the Shaw Centre.

2nd PERIOD:

 PG: 33 seconds into the frame, Colton Cameron showed tremendous patience carrying the puck down the left wing in the attacking zone and spotted Luc Laylin in tight and redirected the frozen disc through Owen Say to give the Spruce Kings the lead. Laylin’s first as a Spruce King had the lone assist credited to Cameron.

PG: A few minutes later, John Herrington did some tremendous work on the left side in tight to find Kolton Cousins at the bottom of the left circle and the Spruce King captain made zero mistake, rifling a wrister blocker side to make it 2-0 Prince George. Cousins’ sixth of the year was assisted by Herrington at 6:41.

3rd PERIOD

 PG: Early in the frame on a Spruce King power-play, Simon Labelle found Dylan Schives, who found John Herrington as he hammered a one timer top corner from the right circle and by Say it extend the Spruce Kings lead to 3-0. Herrington’s 11th of the year was assisted by both Schives and Labelle at 2:15.

PG: Off a Silverback turnover, Simon Labelle got the puck in the left circle and dragged around a Silverback defender and ripped it by Say to make it 4-0 Prince George. Labelle’s sixth of the season was unassisted at 4:54.

PG: Kolton Cousins was able to find John Herrington in the neutral zone along the right wing and Herrington wristed it short side on Say to make it 5-0. Herrington’s second of the night and team leading 12 goal of the seasons was assisted by Cousins at 17:26.
