Spruce Kings drop 3-2 decision to Warriors

Goals from John Herrington and Rowan Miller, and a phenomenal effort in goal from Aaron Trotter did not turn out to be enough as two goals in the second period from the West Kelowna Warriors turned out to be the difference as PG dropped a 3-2 decision to West Kelowna at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

1st PERIOD:

PG: On a Spruce King power-play, Simon Labelle found Dylan Schives at the point, who fed it across to John Herrington at the right circle and wired a one timer by Johnny Derrick to give the Spruce Kings a 1-0 lead. Herrington’s eighth of the year came from both Schives and Labelle at 5:44.

WK: Off the faceoff, a Jayden Price shot was redirected in the slot by Chase Dafoe and passed Aaron Trotter to tie the game. Dafoe’s third of the year has the lone assist credited to Price at 7:53.

PG: The puck came to Colton Cameron at the left point from a Simon Labelle pass, and the Cameron point shot was redirected in the slot by Rowan Miller and passed Johnny Derrick to regain the Spruce Kings lead. Miller’s fourth of the season was assisted by both Cameron and Labelle at 15:40.

2nd PERIOD:

WK: On a Warrior power-play, a Nick Ardanaz feed came to the right circle for Tyler Cristall who ripped a one timer right through the legs of Aaron Trotter to tie the game at two. Cristall’s third of the season was assisted by both Ardanaz and John Evans at 3:41.

WK: A few moments later as a Warrior power-play ended, they maintained offensive zone pressure and got rewarded for it, courtesy of Felix Trudeau. Much like Cristall’s marker, Trudeau got the puck at the right circle, and fired a wrist shot short side on Aaron Trotter to make it 3-2 West Kelowna. Trudeau’s tally had the assists credited to both Tyler Rubin and Carter Schmidt at 8:16
