Five different goal scorers propel Spruce Kings to a 5-2 win in Merritt

MERRITT BC – Five different Prince George Spruce Kings found the back of the net propelling PG to their seventh victory of the season, defeating the Merritt Centennials by a 5-2 score. John Herrington, Simon Labelle, Nick Rhéaume, Jimmy Doyle, and Kolton Cousins were the five Spruce Kings goal scorers.

1st PERIOD:

PG: It took just six seconds on a four-minute power-play for the Spruce Kings to get on the board. Dylan Schives spotted John Herrington at the right circle and wired a one-timer by Keegan Maddocks to give the Spruce Kings an early lead. Herrington’s seventh of the season was assisted by both Schives and Simon Labelle at 4:50 of the opening frame.

PG: On another Spruce King power-play, John Herrington made a fantastic pass from the right circle, to find Labelle on the backdoor and slid it by Maddocks to make it 2-0. Labelle’s second of the season was assisted by both Herrington and Rowan Miller at 14:02.

MER: Late in the period on a Centennial power-play, a point shot from the left point from defenceman Jacob Dewitt went top corner on Jordan Fairlie to get the Cents on the board. Dewitt’s second of the season was assisted by both Talon Zakall and Davide Patella at 18:07.

PG: Just over a minute later, an Evan Fedele shot was stopped by Maddocks, but the rebound was tapped home by Jimmy Doyle at the right side of the goal to make it 4-1 PG. Doyle’s third of the year had the lone assist credited to Fedele at 2:33.

The captain’s tally came from both Herrington and Kilian McGregor-Bennett at 11:40.

MER: On another Centennial power-play, a shot was blocked by Kilian McGregor-Bennett and the puck zipped right to Jacksenn Hungle in the slot and put it by Fairlie to make it 5-2. Hungle’s first of the season came at 13:57 of third period.
