Regional district updates solid waste management plan

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has approved an updated Regional Solid Waste Management Financial Plan.

The plan updates the original plan developed in 2013 and includes forecasted budget revenues and expenditures for the next 10-year period using a number of sources of information including the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan, the Integrated Landfill Management Plan, analysis of operating and capital costs in various scenarios, various professional reports on rural landfill requirements and actual revenues and expenditures over the past number of years.

The 2021 Financial Plan proposes an incremental increase to tipping fees, progressive increase of requisitions, review of the current small load tipping fee and the potential of introducing a drop off fee for yard and garden waste. In addition, recommendations on closure and post closure care funding contributions are provided to meet regulatory funding obligations.
