Zimmer outlines position on mandatory vaccinations

Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies Conservative candidate Bob Zimmer is clarifying the party’s position on mandatory vaccinations.

“Let me be clear: Our position has not changed; we do not support mandatory vaccinations and support the right for you to make your own choices when it comes to vaccines,” he said in a Facebook post.

“For those who are unvaccinated, we continue to believe in reasonable measures, such as rapid testing, to help protect everyone, especially the most vulnerable.

“We also need an internationally recognized travel document for Canadians who wish to travel abroad. Only the Federal Government can provide that document. It is up to individual foreign governments to establish vaccination rules for travellers and countries around the world are now requiring proof of vaccination to enter their country. This is simply about supporting Canadians who want to travel to those countries.

“For those concerned about the vaccine passport plans being put forward by the BC Provincial Government, I encourage you to contact Premier Horgan and your MLA to discuss these provincial plans.

“It’s unfortunate that Justin Trudeau continues to try to politicize vaccines and the pandemic for his own personal gain.”
