Storytime Walk at the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum is back

After a popular debut in 2020, the Storytime Walk at the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum is back for the summer. Beginning on Friday, July 2, families can experience regional history as it comes to life at the eight-acre attraction which features locomotives, rolling stock and heritage structures.

The Storytime Walk supports children’s early literacy development with songs, rhymes, and other place-based activities designed for kids from zero to nine years old. The walk also incorporates child-friendly facts about the museum’s exhibits.

“Our team at the Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum is looking forward to working with the Prince George Public Library once again for the Storytime Walk. What a fun interactive way to experience the park! Many thanks to Scotiabank for making this accessible to all,” said Katherine Carlson, the museum’s executive director.

To participate, families download the GeoTourist app from https://geotourist.com or an app store. Next, search for “Storytime Walk at the Railway and Forestry Museum.” To minimize using mobile data, participants are encouraged to download the tour before leaving home!

GeoTourist is a personal tour guide app. Based on one’s exact location, users can access auto-play guided audio tours on their smartphone.

Thanks to Scotiabank, families accessing the tour will receive free admission to the museum. To qualify for free admission, participants must show museum staff the GeoTourist tour on their device.

This activity is available any time the museum is open. For information on the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum’s open hours and COVID-19 safety precautions, please visit https://www.pgrfm.bc.ca/
