This is becoming old hat, but we broke another heat record yesterday.
According to Environment Canada, the temperature in Prince George reached 37.9 degrees Celsius. The previous high temperature record was 28.3 degrees Celsius, set in 1950. The record high temperature for June 29 is 30.6 degrees Celsius, set in 1987. At 8:30 a.m. this morning it was already 25 degrees Celsius and the forecast is for the mercury to climb to 39 degrees Celsius, so it’s a pretty safe bet another high temperature record will be set today.
A reprieve, of sorts, is coming though. Environment Canada is calling for a high of 33 degrees Celsius Wednesday with a 60 per cent chance of showers.
A heat warning remains in effect for most of the province and an air quality advisory has been issued for the city.
