COVID-19: Outbreak declared at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared a COVID-19 outbreak on a single unit at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek following lab-confirmed cases among residents on the unit.

The outbreak declaration is limited to Rotary Manor’s Special Care Unit-South. Northern Health continues to take steps to protect the health of all Rotary Manor staff, residents and families. At the time of the outbreak declaration, testing has identified two COVID-19 cases. Sadly, one of the residents who had tested positive, has passed away.

Northern Health Public Health is monitoring the situation closely, and taking steps to protect the health of all Rotary Manor staff, residents and families with the following additional precautions in place:

  • Cleaning and infection control measures have been enhanced, both on the affected unit and elsewhere in the facility
  • Staff and resident movement between care areas of the facility has been restricted
  • Temporary suspension of social visits for the Special Care Unit (essential visits are not impacted, and can continue)

The outbreak declaration will be in place for at least 28 days (two consecutive COVID-19 incubation periods).
