Bear spray used in robbery of Nechako Bottle Depot

The Nechako Bottle Depot on First Avenue was robbed Tuesday by a man who bear-sprayed an employee.

The robbery occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Police say a man wearing an orange safety jacket and black pants entered the location and bear sprayed an employee and a customer before taking money from a till and leaving the store.

Witnesses observed the man running across First Avenue and into the wooded area toward Third Avenue. Police Dog Services and Air 3 attended the location to assist frontline members with the search for the male. Police believe the man got into a black Chevrolet Sunfire parked on Third Avenue before leaving the area.

“Investigators believe the vehicle may have been spray painted and are looking to speak with anyone who has seen a similar vehicle in Prince George or knows where it may be,” said Const. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP. “If anyone has information on who the male is, they can contact investigators by calling 250-561-3300.”
