Viewers will be treated to a delicious cast for the latest in a series of proposed films to be shot in Prince George. The Way to the Heart starts production today and will film through to mid-June exclusively in locations throughout the city.
Food Network favourite Bob Blumer (Surreal Gourmet, Glutton for Punishment) rounds out the impressive cast which also features Hallmark movie veterans Meghan Heffern (Love at Sunset Terrace, Wynonna Earp), Leo award nominee Jon Cor (Cross Country Christmas, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) and Peter Graham-Gaudreau (Over the Moon in Love, The Good Doctor). Local supporting talent also includes Sandra Clermont, Riley Banzer, and Sydney Hendricks.

“I’m so excited to be back in PG and working on The Way to the Heart,” said Blumer. “Being an actor is a new adventure for me … but I’m most excited about my role as the culinary consultant on the film. I look forward to showcasing many of the amazing locally farmed and foraged ingredients that I’ve discovered on my many visits here.”
The Way to the Heart is a lighthearted romantic comedy set amongst a charming farmers market and classic car rally in a northern town in summer. It marks the second film in a series of projects being produced in northern B.C. over the next few years, with the aim of building the capacity in the region to attract the film industry. The film comes hot on the heels of the successful production of A Great North Christmas which was filmed entirely in and around Prince George with a local crew earlier this year.
Barker Street Cinemas’ (The Doctor’s Case/Wicked Ways) Norm Coyne will produce the film, with veteran filmmaker Wendy Ord (To the Worlds/Tora) directing. Among her many credits, Wendy was recently awarded the 2020 Canadian Screen Award for Best Documentary Program To the Worlds.
“Amazing script, passionate crew, unbelievably talented cast,” said Coyne. “We have all the ingredients to make something absolutely magical.”
Former Prince George Film Commissioner Sara Shaak of Anamorphic Media, and Shayne Putzlocher from Trilight Entertainment are partners on the film. Anamorphic/Trilight have previously worked on multiple projects together including GIRL, and their latest release Blood on the Crown with Harvey Keitel and Malcolm McDowell – releasing in May in Canada. The producing team is also headed to Malta in the summer of 2021 with their large scale action feature Hounds of War.
