May is a month to support health care in the region

After what seems to be a year of uncertainty, postponements, and revamping, May is starting to look familiar for the region once again.

Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation has announced that its annual Spirit Day Fundraiser is returning to its traditional spot of the first Thursday in May, this year being May 6.  As a much loved and greatly supported event for the community and the region, the annual radiothon will once again be running from 7 a.m.;  and now they have added the additional 6-7 p.m. hour.

It will once again be hosted live from the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort in partnership with at Pattison Media.   Drive through with your pledge, or call 250-565-2800, or even go online at www.spiritofthenorth.ca  to give, and tune in to 99.3 The Drive, 101.3 The River and CKPG TV throughout the day to watch the progress.

This is your chance to pick your passion, and direct 100 per cent of your donation to the area of care that you see as the most important.  Collectively each donation no matter how big or small will make a difference.   Oncology and cancer care, respiratory, mental health, seniors wellness, pediatrics – you choose.

Also keep your eyes peeled for many local promotions getting in on the action in the weeks leading up – such as May 5-6 where you can support the Spirit of the North by purchasing a Spirit Day donut from Tim Hortons.

“This makes for a pretty exciting month for Prince George and the region,” said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Being able to direct your support to any area you choose offers our amazing Donors the ability to positively impact so many areas of healthcare. We then are able to be sure the right equipment and enhancements to healthcare are available to healthcare workers when needed.  This also helps attract and retain staff and physicians to beautiful northern B.C. as well.”

The Costco Campaign for Kids has also resumed, kicking of their campaign in support of the littlest patients on April 26.   The campaign will run until May 30, and will see all donations directed towards pediatric patient care in the North.    In its 27 years, Costco has been able to contribute well over $1 million towards better health outcomes for children in the North through this campaign.

If you want to give please contact the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Office at 250.565.2515 or to contribute online https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/12869.
