Aaron Trotter earns second shutout in three starts; Spruce Kings win 2-0 over Chilliwack

Aaron Trotter snagged his second shutout in three starts while Kolton Cousins and Christian Buono both tallied. It was all the Prince George Spruce Kings needed offensively en route to a 2-0 triumph over the Chilliwack Chiefs.

At 8:27 of the opening period, Colton Cameron had three different scoring chances blocked, or stopped by the goaltender Jacob Gullmes, however, after the third attempt, the puck found the stick of Kolton Cousins at the left circle and slid it by Gullmes to give the Spruce Kings the lead. Cousins’ third of the pod season had Cameron and Linden Makow with the helpers.

There was no scoring in the second period.

In the third, on a Spruce Kings powerplay, Christian Buono had the puck at the left circle and wired a wrist shot top corner over Gullmes to give the Spruce Kings a late lead. Buono’s power-play tally and sixth goal in the Pod came at 11:08, with the lone assist being credited to Rowan Miller.
