A late power-play goal from Andrew Seaman was all the offence the Prince George Spruce Kings could muster in their Pod season opener in a 4-1 loss to the Chilliwack Chiefs on Saturday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

In the first period, as a Chiefs power-play expired, it was Abram Wiebe who received a back door pass from Brett Rylance and deposited the puck into the back of the net to give the Chiefs the lead. The Wiebe marker came from Rylance and Lachlan Getz at 3:42.

At 9:03 on a Chilliwack power-play, Ethan Bowen took a shot that Aaron Trotter initially stopped, however, it ended up sneaking by the goaltender and Kyle Penney put home the loose change. Penney’s first in the pod came from Bowen and Jackson Munro.

At 5:34 of the second, on the power-play, Trevor Longo had the puck in the circle and released a picture-perfect shot over Trotter to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead. Longo’s first came from Ray Fust and Lachlan Getz.

After a number of chances, the Spruce Kings were finally able to covert on the power-play in the third. A pretty passing play set up by Mason Waite and Christian Buono found Andrew Seaman in the backdoor to get PG on the board. Seaman’s first in the pod came at 16:02 of the period.

After some pressure by PG with the net empty, Connor Milburn took the puck away and found Ray Fust to bury the empty netter at 18:59 to give the Chiefs a 4-1 victory.
