A woman is in custody after being spotted trying to steal something from London Drugs. The woman is also suspected of threatening staff at the neighbouring Dollar Store with a knife.
The incidents occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. When police arrived at London Drugs staff directed them to the middle of the store. The Loss Prevention Officer pointed out a woman and indicated she was the theft suspect and the suspect from the threats at the Dollar Store, as well.
“Members approached the female and identified her from previous interactions as 51-year-old Theresa Joseph,” said Const. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP. “Police arrested Ms. Joseph for theft and transported her to the Prince George RCMP Detachment where she remained until her first court appearance.”
While at the detachment, members found a folding knife in Joseph’s possession. The knife matched the description of the one used to threaten Dollar Store staff. The B.C. Prosecution’s Service approved charges of robbery, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon, uttering threats and obstruction of a police officer against Joseph. This file is still under investigation.
