YMCA Strong Kids campaign kicks off

Today the YMCA of Northern BC launches its annual YMCA Strong Kids Campaign with a goal to raise $60,000 by August 31 for local children and families.

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign ensures children and families who have a financial need are able to access YMCA programs and services in our communities. One in five children and families receive financial assistance to participate in YMCA camps and programs such as subsidized membership, YMCA Camp Kanannaq and Aurora Leadership, as well as YMCA Beyond the Bell.

“The charitable sector has been hard hit by the pandemic, yet we know the community’s need is great right now,” said Amanda Alexander, CEO at the YMCA of Northern BC. “We need help now more than ever. We are asking the community to join us by getting involved with our YMCA MEGATHON and donating to the campaign.

“At the Y, we believe that health is a right, not a privilege. So, no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. We subsidize over $300 000 annually. It is our YMCA Strong Kids fund that makes that support possible.”
