For the fourth year in a row, the Brink Group of Companies is the presenting sponsor of YMCA MEGATHON, which raises funds to ensure that all local children and families have access to healthy living.
The annual YMCA MEGATHON returns this year with a goal to raise $10,000 to support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign – the largest annual fundraiser to reach the goal of $60,000 by August 31. This year’s event will look a little different than previous years. It will encourage family participation with a combination of virtual sessions and community activities to promote movement and healthy living, while raising funds for local kids.
On March 13, participants will earn entries for our grand prize of a Nintendo Switch by completing activities and raising money for YMCA Strong Kids. Last week John A. Brink presented the YMCA of Northern BC with a cheque for $3,000 toward the $10,000 goal.
“The charitable sector has been hard hit by the pandemic,” said Amanda Alexander, CEO at the YMCA of Northern BC. “We continue to provide front line supports to our community, such as essential child care and mental health services, but we need help now more than ever. We know that not only does our community need our YMCA today, but that we will be vital as we continue to recover together. Our YMCA MEGATHON event is instrumental in ensuring we have financial resources to serve our community.”
“It is an absolute honour for The Brink Group to once again be title sponsor of the annual YMCA MEGATHON,” said Brink, President and CEO. “This is our fourth year in a row supporting this outstanding annual fundraiser. I’ve always been impressed with the hard-working YMCA team and various fundraising they do; our goal is to work with the team at the YMCA of Northern BC to continue setting records with MEGATHON – in both money fundraised and participation. I’d like to encourage the entire community to come out and support this special event, as well as spend some time reflecting on how blessed we are as a city and a region to have an amazing non-profit organization like the YMCA of northern B.C.”
The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign allows 1 in 5 children and families to receive financial assistance to participate in YMCA camps and programs such as subsidized membership, YMCA Camp Kanannaq and Aurora Leadership, as well as YMCA Beyond the Bell.
