City hires consulting firm to aid in search for new city manager

Prince George city council has hired JB Consultants Inc. to search for a new city manager.

Former city manager Kathleen Soltis and the city parted ways last September and Walter Babicz has been appointed interim city manager.

The City Manager is accountable for the operation of all municipal services and oversees a staff of 750 exempt and unionized employees with a total budget of $250 million. 

According to its website: “JB Consultants has a team of experienced ‘in the field’ senior practitioners, combined with an extensive range of contacts throughout BC local government, to undertake all aspects of the executive search and recruitment process to the highest professional and ethical standards. We are also extremely cost and price competitive compared to the competition.”

Its president is Jerry Berry who has “specialized in local government for over 36 years, over 20 of which was as a city manager.”

The city has not said when it expects recommendations from JB Consultants or how much the firm is being paid.
