RCMP dog team finds lost senior

A senior is safe at home after a police service dog found him lost in the woods near West Lake Monday.

Police were called out after 5:30 p.m. The caller said she and her 83-year-old husband were out for a walk but she lost sight of him. She searched the area and neighbours had come to help but they could not locate the man. As night was beginning to fall there was increasing concern for his well-being and his safety.

Frontline members and police dog services attended the area and quickly began a search from the man’s last known location. The dog team located the man in the bush and brought him to safety. He was assessed on-scene by Emergency Health Services, who determined he was unharmed.

“The Prince George RCMP are proud of the quick response by frontline members and the Police Dog Services team,” said Const. Jennifer Cooper. “Their efforts ensured this story ended well for all of those involved.”
