Police say Norwood Street house fire was arson

Police say a fire at a house in 2100-block of Norwood St. Thursday was arson.

Police were called out to assist Prince George Fire Services and when Mounties arrived  the entire residence was on fire. The sole occupant, the homeowner, was able to exit the residence before emergency services arrived.

A fire investigator from the Prince George RCMP attended the scene as the city fire investigators believed the cause of the fire to be suspicious. Examination of the residence showed investigators that the fire started outside of the residence. At this time, investigators believe the fire is the result of arson.

The Prince George RCMP encourage residents in the surrounding area to contact police if they saw or heard anything suspicious Thursday morning that could further the investigation of this fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
