Raising the roof at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church

St. Michael and All Angels Anglican church has launched the largest capital campaign in its 55-year history.

The distinctive A-frame roof of St. Michael and All Angels church (corner of Fifth and Victoria) has been deteriorating. Minor repairs and careful monitoring have worked for a number of years, but there can be no further delay without risking permanent damage to the building.

“St. Michael and All Angels enriches Prince George through its roles in the community,” said Ann Godon, Raise the Roof Campaign Chairperson. “We embrace our location as a downtown church and have opened our doors as not only a place of worship, but as a home for the arts, non-profit secular groups, and most recently, the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.”

“Our goal is $400,000 and to date we have raised over 50 percent with savings, grants and pledges,” said Marie Hay, Peoples’ Warden at St. Mike’s. “We are reaching out to anyone who has an interest in this downtown icon and its programs to help us reach our fundraising goal.”

The church is making plans to start the repairs in the spring of 2021. In the coming weeks, look for a large sign on the church to inform the community about the Capital Campaign. More information can be found at their website: stmichaelspg.ca
