Guns, body armour and more seized from 11th Avenue home

Shortly after noon Wednesday, Prince George RCMP received an abandoned 911 call to a residence on the 1600 block of 11th Avenue.

Information given to members of a possible robbery attempt with a firearm prompted a call out to the North District Emergency Response Team and Prince George RCMP Police Dog Services to assist with managing the situation and removing everyone from the residence safely. In total, police removed 19 individuals from the residence without incident.

While members were on scene, they found a handgun and a box of ammunition outside of the residence in plain sight. Frontline members were already conducting a concurrent CDSA investigation into this residence. On the strength of that information, combined with the discovery of the handgun and ammunition, Mounties obtained a search warrant for the home.

Once in the home, members located and seized two loaded and prohibited firearms, two imitation firearms, illegal body armour, several boxes of ammunition, scales, a small amount of drugs, cash, various edged weapons and some stolen property.

“Police did not make any arrests at this time, pending results from lab analysis on the drugs and firearms located,” said Const. Jennifer Cooper. “This is typical of an investigation of this nature.”

Police in Prince George are familiar with this residence, as it was already the subject of a recent CDSA search warrant executed by Prince George RCMP’s Downtown Safety Unit.

This investigation is in its beginning stages. Police may release more information as it becomes available.
