In response to the latest province-wide health restrictions issued Thursday, Spirit of the North Health Care Foundation has announced that the physical presence involving any active participation in the Virtual Santa Claus Parade is not permitted.
“While we had tediously worked through all aspects of the Provincial Health Authority’s risk management plan and had approval from the city, we must adhere to the latest restrictions with the goal being that everyone truly is #safeathome,” according to a statement issued by the charity.
A partnership with the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has allowed Spirit of the North to honour Santa’s arrival starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 6 on CKPG-TV in a variety of ways that will still feature local sponsors, allow for the Sofa Spud Contest as well as the MediChair Seniors Contest, and still see plenty of the Festival of Trees 2020 – Re-ReImagined showcased in many ways. There will be special messages throughout and a focus on the equipment that is being supported through this year’s Festival of Trees.
“We invite you to tune in, relax in the safety and comfort of your own home, participate in the contests, and still be part of the magic of Festival of Trees 2020 – Santa Claus Parade,” says the statement
