Spruce Kings drop 2-1 decision to Smoke Eaters in shootout

The Prince George Spruce Kings got more great goaltending from Aaron Trotter, and Rowan Miller tallied his third of the pre-season, however, it was the Trail Smoke Eaters who prevailed Sunday and defeated the Spruce Kings by a 2-1 score in a shootout.

After a fairly even opening frame, it was the Smoke Eaters who got on the board late in the first. Zack Feaver found the puck in front of Aaron Trotter and was able to tuck it home and give the Smoke Eaters the lead. Jackson Krill had the helper on Feaver’s fourth of the pre-season. Feaver’s tally came at 19:35 of the period.

After some relentless pressure throughout second frame, Rowan Miller was able to net home his third of the pre-season as he put the puck past Logan Terness to knot the game up at one. Kolton Cousins and Max Boronvinskiy had the two helpers at 16:30 of the second.

There was no scoring in the third and overtime solved nothing, so it all came down to the shootout:

  • TRA: Dafoe – Goal
  • PG: Buono – Goal
  • TRA: Feaver – Goal
  • PG: Waite – No Goal
  • TRA: Wakeford – No Goal
  • PG: Spiridakis – No Goal
