Spruce Kings drop second game of pre-season 6-2 in Cranbrook

The Prince George Spruce Kings were able to battle back being down by two goals, getting markers from Christian Buono and Mason Waite, but it was the Cranbrook Bucks who prevailed, scoring four unanswered goals, leading to a 6-2 victory over the Spruce Kings Friday.

Briggs Gammill opened the scoring for the Bucks in the first period when he got the puck at the left circle and fired it over glove of Jordan Fairlie to give the Bucks the lead. Noah Leibl and Nathan Fox had the helpers on Gammill’s fourth of the pre-season at 3:35

The Bucks opened up a two-goal lead when Michael Hagen got a feed at the left side and ripped it on the glove side of Fairlie to make it 2-0. Hagen’s fourth of the pre-season came from Dane Dowiak and Nathan Fox at 6:21.

At 17:10 of the period, Christain Buono was able to pot home his second of the pre-season on a mad scramble in front to put the Spruce Kings within one. Connor Bowie had the lone helper on Buono’s tally.

In the second,  on the man advantage, Mason Waite was able to rip a wrist shot top corner over goaltender Jacob Zacharweicz to tie the game up at two. Waite’s second of the pre-season came from Connor Bowie and Christian Buono at 6:07.

Then it was all Cranbrook. Noah Quinn potted his second of the pre-season on a two-on-one to make it 3-2. Dane Dowiak and Michael Hagen had the two helpers at 7:50 of the second.

Dane Dowiak was able to rip one past Jordan Fairlie for his sixth of the pre-season. Dowiaks marker comes from Hagen and Cole Assailly at 11:31. That Dowiak marker ended Fairlie’s night, as Aaron Trotter came in to replace the Spruce Kings goaltender.

It was again Dowiak who scored his second of the night on the power-play at 12:11 of the period. Dowiak’s seventh of the pre-season comes from Noah Quinn.

In the third it was once again Dane Dowiak who netted home his natural hat trick goal as he took a wrist shot at the left circle that snuck by Aaron Trotter to make it 6-2. Michael Hagen had the lone helper at 1:07 of the period.
