Aquatic Centre expanding operations in January; Transit service expected to lose $860K

The Aquatic Centre continues to expand operations in a safe and responsible manner, working in concert with Northern Health, according to a city report.

Starting on January 2, 2021, the Aquatic Centre will be able to accommodate a 40 per cent increase in the number of swimmers allowed at a time, while still maintaining physical distancing of seven metres between each swimmer. The swim schedule for October until the end of the year is posted on the City website, as is the schedule for January to April.

Transit update

Council also received an update on the ways the COVID-19 pandemic has affected ridership, service levels, and finances in the Prince George Transit System. Compared to last year, ridership is down about 55% since the start of the pandemic, which has in turn affected service levels. Staff is expecting about a loss in revenue of about $860,000 by the end of 2020.
