A pedestrian was seriously injured Saturday when he was hit by a vehicle while walking on Fifth Avenue near Ruggles Street.
The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. When police arrived on scene they found a man pedestrian receiving medical treatment. He was transported to hospital for further treatment of serious injuries.
Witness statements have been obtained and evidence has been gathered from the scene. The investigation has led officers to believe that a pedestrian in dark clothing, listening to music with earphones, stepped out in front of a west bound small SUV and was struck.
The adult male driver remained on scene, was cooperative with police, and did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol. The investigation is continuing.
The Prince George RCMP would like to thank those members of the public that provided medical aid to the pedestrian before emergency services arrived. Police would like to remind pedestrians to be extra cautious, wear reflective clothing and utilize well-lit crosswalks. Drivers are reminded to always expect pedestrians, especially after dark.
