Colton Cameron, Austin Spiridakis, and Hunor Torzsok all scored their first goals in Spruce Kings colours as the Spruce Kings chalked up their third win of the pre-season with a 5-1 win against the Merritt Centennials Saturday.
Prince George opened up a lead 53 seconds into the first frame. Colton Cameron got the puck at the point, and took a seeing-eyed shot that found a way to the top corner past Josh Dias to give the Spruce Kings an early lead. Cameron’s first BCHL goal was assisted from Austin Spiridakis and Christian Buono.
At 3:42, it was a pretty passing play from Christian Buono and Connor Bowie to set up Spiridakis for his first goal in his first game in Spruce King colours to double the lead.
Shortly after the media timeout, it was a hard working play by Ben Ward in behind the Spruce Kings net and he shovelled the puck by Jordan Fairlie to make it 2-1. Ward’s second of the pre-season comes from Jerzy Orchard and Brodi Stuart at 11:28.
Ninety seconds into the second period, Andrew Seaman picked the pocket of the Centennial defender and put it by Josh Dias to make it 3-1 PG. Seaman’s shorthanded goal was his third of the pre-season from Christian Buono.
At 19:54 of the second, Mason Waite got the puck off the faceoff in the neutral zone and went coast to coast, walked around, defenceman Talon Zakall and ripped it through the wickets of Dias to make it 4-1 Spruce Kings. Waite’s second of the pre-season came from Talon Zakall.
At 11:23 of the third period, Keiton Klein’s dump in took a lively bounce off the end boards and shot right to Hunor Torzsok in the slot and he deposited the biscuit in the yawning cage to make it 5-1 Prince George. Klein was credited with the lone assist.
