Backcountry Cleanups clean up near Heather Park

Spruce City Wildlife Association members clean up a dumping area new Heather Park School.

Spruce City Wildlife founded the BackCountry Cleanups initiative approximately five years ago, designed to remove trash from our trails and backcountry areas in the Prince George region. They were shortly joined by their partner , Wood Wheaton Supercentre.

Since then, they have removed over 50,000 pounds of garbage, not including five vehicles, countless appliances and recyclables.

Today, a few memebers cleaned a regular dump site next to Heather Park Elementary. In an hour, they removed 420 kilograms of garbage.

“Shortly after, I was contacted by Cassandra Premack of K.K.S Tactical Supplies in Prince George,” said Steve Hamilton, President of the Spruce City Wildlife Association. “She stated to me that they wanted to do anything they could to help combat this problem, and immediately offered a trail camera towards this at no charge. This is a great value, help and will go a long way to tackling this epidemic we are facing.”
