One dead following two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Tabor Mountain

One man is dead following a collision between a tractor-trailer unit and another vehicle on Highway 16 near Tabor Mountain Sunday.

Police responded to a report of a tractor-trailer rollover at about 11:20 a.m. Indications were that the truck was on fire and blocking the entire highway.

On arrival to the scene, officers found that another vehicle had collided with the tractor-trailer.  The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was deceased at the scene.  The two occupants of the tractor-trailer escaped with non-life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for several hours while officers gathered evidence and crews worked to clear the scene.  The investigation is continuing.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm cause of death.  No further information about the identity of the deceased will be released.
