The numbers are in, and Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s annual Spirit Day fundraiser was a huge success. With a goal of $60,000 for this year, the community came through an raised $90,369. With donations continuing to pour in, Spirit of the North is pleased to announce it has now officially broke $100,000 with donations being directed 100 per cent towards many areas of healthcare in the North.

In these unprecedented times, the foundation was forced to reschedule from its original date in early May, until this past Thursday. It also moved from its historic location at UHNBC with the Treasure Cove Prestige Hotel and Resort stepping up and hosting. Local organizations partnered and stepped in to provide matching and volunteer hours, and were keen and supportive in calling in to challenge their peers and local organizations.

“We know health care touches us all, but each of us in different ways,” said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Offering the opportunity for donors to support the area near and dear to them has been encouraging. We are so very thankful to our long time partners, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, the Prestige Treasure Cove Hotel along with many of our steadfast donors, supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have made the day such a huge success. The real winner here is health care in the North.”

“The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group LP knows it is a privilege to be involved in Spirit Day and to support The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation,” said Kevin Gemmell, general manager of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group. “101.3 The River, 99.3 The Drive, CKPG-TV and CKPGToday.ca understands the vision and benefit of providing healthcare within the region offers tremendous benefit to the people of northern B.C. first and foremost.
