Eight people were arrest early Wednesday after Prince George RCMP, with assistance from the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, executed search warrant at an address on the 400-block of South Lyon Street.
A search was conducted and two loaded firearms along with ammunition and a ‘stun’ gun were located and seized.
A 21-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were held in custody and will be attending court later today, pending charge assessment from the BC Prosecution Service. Both are well known to police and have a history of violence, according to police. Six others were released pending further investigation and charge assessment from the BC Prosecution Service.
The action taken by police was a direct result of the ongoing investigation into the increased violence involving firearms in the community. Due to the extreme high risk to safety, police utilized special tactics to secure the residence and arrest all occupants.
The investigation is continuing and further police action is likely.
