One dead following two-vehicle crash on Northwood Pulpmill Road

One person is dead following a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer unit Monday on Northwood Pulpmill Road.

Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at about 7:40 p.m. A few minutes later, police received a report of a collision at the intersection of Northwood Pulpmill Road and Noranda Road in Prince George.  Initial reports were that a car collided with a tractor-trailer and was on fire.

Officers and other emergency services attended the scene.  The driver of the vehicle was located deceased. 

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm identity and cause of death.  Once confirmed, the identity of the deceased will not be released.

Witness accounts and evidence at the scene indicate that the driver of the vehicle was at fault.  The driver of the tractor-trailer was not physically harmed.
