Dawson Creek RCMP are trying to identify the man in the hoodie (left) who pretended to be an RCMP officer.

Dawson Creek RCMP are on the lookout for a man who pretended to be a police officer.

On August 24, the unknown man was initially seen by a woman in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Alaska Avenue in Dawson Creek at approximately 12:30 a.m. He was seen getting into his vehicle after which he followed the victim until she parked at an apartment building on Third Avenue.

The man was then got out of his vehicle and approached the woman; who was still in her vehicle. He identified himself as ‘Constable Parker’ and said that he was a RCMP officer. The man directed that the woman provide her driver’s licence and registration. The woman; recognizing that the man was not in a uniform nor carried anything which would identify him as a police officer, declined and instead said that she was calling the police. The man then left the area.

The associated vehicle is described as an early 2000s dark-coloured; possibly black or blue, crew-cab Chevy pickup with a red slip tank in the back.

The man is described as young, very slim, between 5’6″-6′ tall, with red hair. He was wearing a grey hoodie and army green/camouflaged pants and a hat. He may have been drinking before the interaction as it is believed that he may have had alcohol on his breath.

Photos provided show the man talking to another man whom may or may not have been present for the interaction.

Police are looking to identify either of the men. If you have any information about this, please contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at (250) 784-3700 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
