Body of kayaker recovered from Davie Lake

BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team members recovered the body of a kayaker from Davie Lake, just north of Bear Lake.

Officers and other emergency services were called to the lake at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday August 22 after receiving a report that a man went missing after the kayak he was on turned over.

Emergency Management BC was contacted and deployed the Prince George Search and Rescue Society to assist.  The surface area and the shoreline of the lake was searched by boat and helicopter prior to underwater efforts.

Foul play is not suspected.  The man was not wearing a life jacket.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm cause of death.  No further information about the identity of the deceased will be released.
