A motorcycle and SUV were involved in a head-on collision on the Moffat Bridge in Quesnel Friday.
On August 13, at approximately 10:26 a.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Moffat Bridge, causing a major traffic disruption to and from West Quesnel.
Police say a motorcycle was traveling east on Anderson Drive in the slow lane and passed a garbage truck that was in the fast lane. After the rider passed the truck, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided head on with an SUV that was travelling west on the bridge deck.
“The bridge was shut down for over an hour as EHS and the Quesnel Fire Department tended to the rider,”
said Sgt. Richard Weseen, of the Quesnel RCMP detachment. “The citizens and visitors of Quesnel were very patient during this time and it was appreciated by the emergency crews on scene.”
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to GR Baker Memorial Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the investigation. Charges may be pending.
