Cougars confident season can get underway this fall

Editor:

The Prince George Cougars are excited to be continuing to plan for a full 68 game schedule this season. The league has targeted October 2 for our opening weekend, but we all understand that this is a fluid situation. The league continues to develop different schedules and scenarios, including later start dates, shortened training camps, and changes to how divisional play may occur based on the Canada/USA border situation.

You may have heard that the City of Prince George is continuing to keep the CN Centre closed for the time being, however, I have the full assurance of the mayor and arena management that once the WHL has certainty and confirmation about our season schedule dates, the CN Centre will be open and ready to welcome everyone.

  • We will plan and operate our season in a safe and responsible manner. The safety of our fans, players, billets, volunteers, and employees is paramount, and we are working with Provincial and local health authorities to ensure we will meet or exceed all requirements.
  • We will take a leadership role in welcoming our community back into the CN Centre, to help celebrate the importance of connecting people together once again. We will be part of the healing process, and continue to be an important part of the fabric of what makes this a great city to live and play in.
  • We will keep you fully informed as the situation unfolds. The potential for social distancing and limits to the number of fans allowed in the CN Centre is very high, so if you haven’t already done so, I highly encourage you to renew your season tickets to ensure you get the locations you desire. You have our promise that if the worst happens and our season ends up being shortened or cancelled, we will keep your investment “whole” and ensure you receive full value/refunds as needed. This is a challenging time for all of us, but we are very optimistic and enthusiastic about getting through this together and welcoming everyone back to Prince George Cougars hockey as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to connect with us with your questions, or just to chat. We’d love to hear from you. And as always, on behalf of our entire organization, thank you for your exceptional support.
