Police seek public’s help in Econo Lodge fire investigation

Specially trained fire investigators with the RCMP will be at the scene of yesterday’s fire at the Econo Lodge in downtown Prince George for a number of days gathering evidence.

Three people were found dead in the building after Prince George Fire Rescue Services managed to knock the fire down.

The Prince George RCMP hoping to speak with anyone that may have video or still images within a two block radius of the motel between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Wednesday July 8.  Those that can assist are asked to contact the detachment at 250-561-3300.  Dash-cam video while driving by, cell phone images or security surveillance images, would be greatly appreciated.

The cause of the fire is considered as being suspicious in nature.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting a parallel investigation to determine who died, and how, where, when and by what means they came to their unexpected deaths. Due to the privacy of the deceased, identity will not be provided.
