Evacuation order for residents on Mountain View Road near McBride remains in effect

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George’s evacuation order issued on July 4, 2020 remains in effect for the Mountain View Road area near McBride after an initial debris flow occurred on Willox Creek shortly before 2 a.m. that morning.

All residents must comply with the evacuation order and are to leave this unstable area immediately. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is conducting daily geotechnical assessments and have observed unstable slopes on Willox Creek. They advise that more debris events are probable and that it is imperative that residents stay out of the evacuation order area.

At this time the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure does not have an estimated time of re-opening the affected roadway.

The Regional District continues to work with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Emergency Management BC and other ministries to ensure the safety of all area residents, and will be providing further updates as the situation evolves.
