Bill Bond, the husband of Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond, has died.
“I am broken hearted at the loss of our amazing ‘Billy,’ Shirley said in a tweet. “He faced this difficult journey in the same way he lived his life, with a quiet strength and an overwhelming, deep love for his family. He was my best friend and my life partner.”
Bill had been facing a series of health challenges during the last several months and, most recently, suffered a stroke. He passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
“I struggle to imagine a world without Billy in it,” Shirley posted on her Facebook page. “He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend … More later, but for now, rest well Billy, we love you to the moon and back!”
They were married for more than 41 years.
Condolences have been pouring in on social media.

@shirleybond so saddened by the news. Bill meant alot to us as was just always there. Will always remember Bill as a kind man who would regularly ask about my family & talk about life. In our busy/intense jobs he was such a refreshing breath of normal. We will sure miss him.
