A 42-year-old man is facing a murder charge in the March 9 death of a 62-year-old Vanderhoof woman.
On March 9 Vanderhoof RCMP received a call for a well-being check of a local resident. At the residence police located the 62-year-old home owner, Joy Morris, deceased. The subsequent investigation determined that Morris’ death was the result of a homicide.
The BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit took conduct the investigation with assistance from the BC RCMP South East RCMP Major Crime Unit, Vanderhoof RCMP Detachment, Penticton RCMP Detachment and the Prince George RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
On Friday April 10 investigators arrested 42-year-old Justin Johnston for the murder of Morris. Johnston was arrested in the South Okanagan where he had recently moved.
Both Johnston and Morris were known to each other and police do not believe there to be further risk to the greater public.
